A downloadable game
The game I chose to cover was over Stella. It's a game where the main focus is to see who thinks alike when thinking of memories based on what background cards are on the table. Because of this, it doesn't take long for the game to be taken into a creative direction in its play style. This makes it a qualified game to have elements of Soren Johnson's elements of transparency in the game. For starters, the way the visible mechanics of the game are shown; the creative backgrounds of each card present the game with player comfort while they play. It's one of the game's main attention grabbers when people decide to play the game so it's important that it has that quality about it. Stella isn't the most complicated game to know how to play. So it does an ok job of having rules for the player to understand and be engaged with the game. The engagement part is mainly associated with realizing how similar the player and their friends are at thinking alike when thinking of cards that symbolize memories. With Stella, there really isn't too much transparent abstraction while playing. It's not a game that requires too much strategy to have a better chance of winning. It's just a friendly game about seeing who thinks alike. There are a few instances where strategy may or may not be required, however. For instance, when thinking of cards that remind the player of a topic, it's important for the player to think about what their friends may think so that more points could be potentially earned for everyone. The luck factor can also be tied to this as well. The only luck factor that takes place in the game is seeing who has the same ideas as the player when matching a word to any of the background cards that are on the table. It would be lucky for everyone if they all thought of the same cards and that would greatly help out everyone. But other than that, the game doesn't rely too much on luck like other games. It doesn't have any dice to roll so the random luck element of that is completely absent. The only other luck element that would be present would be when some of the background cards are switched up with newer cards to keep the game fresh while playing. This might give the people playing cards that may be simple to understand and everyone knows what it symbolizes.
